Does bowel cancer give you a fever?

Bowel cancer is generally referred to as colorectal cancer. Some patients may have fever, and most of them will have change in bowel habit and change in the nature of stool. Usually, colorectal cancer is categorized into rectal cancer, left half colon cancer and right half colon cancer. Rectal cancer patients often have symptoms of blood in stool, and when the rectum is stimulated by the lesion, it may also cause defecation reflex, incomplete bowel movement, urgency and heaviness. The character of stool will also be changed, most of them will show deformation and thinning of fecal column, and some of them may have obstruction of intestinal lumen, but they will not have fever symptoms. On the other hand, patients with left half colon cancer are prone to complete or partial intestinal obstruction, and patients will mostly suffer from abdominal distension, abdominal pain, no anal discharge and no bowel movement, and may also suffer from blood in stool and constipation. In case of right half colon cancer, abdominal mass, emaciation, anemia and other symptoms may also appear. Systemic symptoms such as fatigue, fever and anemia are mostly seen in right half colon cancer. However, there are also a few patients who may have cancer fever during rapid growth of malignant tumor, massive destruction of tumor cells, radiotherapy, etc. And when secondary infection occurs in patients with intestinal cancer, it may also manifest as fever. It is suggested that patients should consult doctor in time for clear diagnosis, and if it is bowel cancer, systematic treatment should be carried out according to doctor’s prescription, while for patients who only have fever symptoms, it is necessary to find out the cause of the disease in time for treatment.
