After a tooth is extracted, it usually takes about 3 months for the extraction wound to heal completely. Therefore, for most restorations, the procedure is performed 3 months after the extraction. This means that if you want to wear braces, you should do so 3 months after the extraction. There are three types of restorations that can be done after tooth extraction: first, implants; second, fixed restorations, i.e., braces; and finally, removable dentures. If you want to wear braces, you generally need to have healthy adjacent teeth on the left and right side of the tooth that was extracted. If the last tooth is extracted and you want to wear braces, it is generally not recommended and you can consider implant or removable denture restoration.
