Is glucose tolerance the same as blood glucose after meals?

Glucose tolerance and postprandial blood glucose are not the same, and they are different in terms of examination method, test content and significance. 1. Different methods: Glucose tolerance test is to take 75 grams of glucose orally on an empty stomach, and then measure the blood glucose after fasting and drinking sugar water; while postprandial blood glucose measures the blood glucose after a normal meal. Glucose tolerance test is more standardized than blood glucose after meal, and the diagnosis of diabetes is more rigorous. 2. Different test contents: Glucose tolerance test is to measure venous blood glucose, while postprandial blood glucose is generally fingertip capillary blood glucose, venous blood glucose is more accurate. 3. Different significance: Glucose tolerance test can be used for the diagnosis of diabetes and to understand the function of pancreatic islet cells; whereas postprandial blood glucose can reflect the blood glucose after eating, and can be used for daily monitoring of blood glucose and assessment of the condition. People with abnormal blood sugar should go to the hospital in time and be treated under the guidance of the doctor.
