Can acute glaucoma be cured?

Most acute glaucoma can be cured. Acute closed-angle glaucoma with a relatively short eye axis, narrow atrial angle, or crystal cataract leading to iris bulging is usually curable. Trauma resulting in iris root detachment, atrial angle recession, and crystal dislocation are more difficult to treat, but most can also be cured. Different glaucomas have different prognoses. In general, acute closed-angle glaucoma, treated early and promptly, has a better prognosis. Open-angle glaucoma has a better prognosis when treated early and promptly, but it is difficult to cure if it is advanced. Neovascular glaucoma is also very difficult to cure.
