The efficacy of goldenseal and chrysanthemum together in water is to clear heat. It should be noted that the active ingredients of the drug are limited in precipitation when brewing water, and generally do not achieve the therapeutic effect.
Goldenrod is the dried grass of the orchid plant, with flat nature and sweet flavor, entering the liver, lung, kidney and bladder meridians, and its effect is to clear heat and cool the blood, dispel wind and promote dampness.
Chrysanthemum is the dried capitulum of chrysanthemum, family Asteraceae. It is slightly cold in nature, sweet and bitter in taste, and enters the liver and lung meridians. Its effects include clearing heat and removing toxins, calming the liver and clearing the eyes, and dispersing wind-heat, and it can be used for the treatment of headache and dizziness, redness and pain in the eyes, dimming of the eyes, carbuncle and swollen toxin (skin diseases caused by the internal invasion of poisonous evils, which result in stagnation of blood and qi), wind-heat and colds, and so on.
The two drugs have no contraindications and can be taken together, with the common effect of clearing heat. Adverse effects are not clear.
