There is no definite value for survival rate after recurrence of hypopharyngeal cancer, but usually the 5-year survival rate is less than 50% . The main symptoms of recurrence of hypopharyngeal cancer include local symptoms such as swallowing pain, progressive dysphagia and lymph node metastasis in the neck. Its survival rate is related to the site of recurrence, the recurrence situation and whether it is timely treated. In case of lymphatic recurrence, when the recurrent lymph nodes are small and less adherent to arteries and veins, radical dissection can be considered. However, if the patient’s lymph nodes are firmly adherent to the arteries, a surgical protocol for atherectomy can be performed, in conjunction with a vascular surgeon. In the case of hypopharyngeal recurrence, recurrent surgery may be more difficult at this point and the borders are blurred, so surgery may not achieve a good result. Targeted therapy and immunotherapy should be sought. It is suggested that patients should go to the hospital for detailed clinical examination to clarify the type and degree of malignancy of recurrent hypopharyngeal cancer. If surgical resection is possible, surgical treatment can be chosen, and then the doctor should carry out radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and other comprehensive treatments according to the patient’s condition, so as to improve the patient’s therapeutic effect and prolong the patient’s survival period.
