Congenital strabismus may be accommodative, and in some patients it is non-accommodative. Clinically, congenital strabismus is categorized into congenital internal strabismus, which occurs within 6 months of birth, and congenital external strabismus, which occurs within 1 year of birth. Usually, some patients with congenital strabismus are adjustable, which can be treated early by wearing corrective glasses and taking medication as prescribed by the doctor, and the prognosis is relatively good. It is worth noting that some congenital strabismus is non-adjustable, and usually requires appropriate surgical treatment according to the cause, direction and angle of the strabismus, so as to adjust the extraocular muscles and accomplish the purpose of strabismus correction. Some patients may have complications such as intraocular infection, diplopia, under or over correction after surgery. It is recommended that patients with congenital strabismus should actively seek medical checkups and cooperate with their doctors after clarifying the specific conditions, so as to avoid affecting the normal development of vision.
