Should I see a dermatologist or a rheumatologist for erythema annulare?

Erythema annulare can be caused by a variety of factors, including infection, medication and disease. For most of the diseases that cause erythema annulare, such as simple erythema simplex, eccentric erythema annulare and chronic erythema migrans, a dermatological consultation is required. For erythema annulare caused by rheumatic fever, the rheumatology department is the place to go. Rheumatic fever is usually asymptomatic, with acute attacks of redness, swelling, heat pain and restricted movement in the joints, as well as erythema annulare, which usually appears later in life.
