Laryngeal cancer may cause sore throat, but sore throat is not a unique symptom of laryngeal cancer, it may also be caused by chronic pharyngitis and chronic tonsillitis. 1. Laryngeal cancer: Early laryngeal cancer usually shows symptoms like foreign body sensation and discomfort in the throat. With the increasing of tumor, it will stimulate and squeeze the mucous membrane and nerves in the throat, resulting in persistent pain in the throat without relief. 2. Chronic pharyngitis: chronic pharyngitis is a chronic inflammation of pharyngeal mucosa, submucosa and lymphatic tissues, which is usually of long duration, and the patients will have symptoms such as dryness of throat and pain in throat. 3. Chronic tonsillitis: It is a persistent, infectious inflammatory reaction that occurs in the palatine tonsils. Repeated acute episodes, the patient’s throat pain is obvious during the attack, and there are mild symptoms such as dry throat, itching and foreign body sensation in the intervals.
