The TCM diagnosis of rhinitis is lung qi deficiency and cold syndrome, spleen qi weakness syndrome (spleen qi weakness), kidney yang deficiency syndrome, and lung meridian ambient heat syndrome.
Rhinitis belongs to the category of “congested nose” in Chinese medicine, with paroxysmal and recurrent nasal itching and sneezing as the main symptoms.
1. Lung qi deficiency and cold syndrome manifests as nasal itching, sneezing, running nose, accompanied by fear of wind and fear of cold, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with a little movement), shortness of breath and laziness of speech, timid and pale, or cough with scanty sputum and other symptoms. Treatment: add and subtract Warm Lung and Stop Flowing Dan.
2. Weakness of Spleen Qi manifests as itchy nose, sneezing, runny nose, accompanied by yellowish and colorless complexion, emaciation, poor appetite and dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake), abdominal distension and loose stools (thin and unshaped feces), fatigue and weakness, and shortness of breath and laziness of speech (lack of strength, not wanting to speak). The treatment is tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi, plus subtractions.
3. Kidney-Yang deficiency manifests as itchy nose, sneezing, runny nose, accompanied by pale face, cold body, cold limbs, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, long and clear urine, or spermatorrhea and premature ejaculation. The treatment is Zhenwu Tang plus subtractions.
4. Lung meridian ambient heat syndrome manifests as nasal itching, sneezing, runny nose, accompanied by cough, itchy throat, dry mouth and irritable heat (irritability and sultriness), etc. The treatment is Xinyi Lung Clearing Drink plus subtractions. Treatment with Xinyi Qinglong Drink plus subtractions.
