The treatment diet for colon cancer should follow medical advice, and the recovery diet should be based on a balanced diet and high-quality food.
The colon cancer diet is divided into treatment diet and recovery diet.
During the treatment period, if it is chemotherapy, the diet should be light, easy to digest, less and more precise; eat more foods rich in vitamin C and vitamin A; increase water intake on the day of chemotherapy, 2500ml per day.
During radiotherapy, more bed rest and more water should be taken to facilitate the excretion of metabolites, 1500-2000ml per day; increase protein, animal protein accounts for 2/3 above, and appropriately limit the intake of animal fat; give foods that enhance immunity, such as shiitake mushrooms, fungus, enoki mushrooms, asparagus, etc., and appropriately increase the intake of foods that resist radiation, such as seaweed, nori and other marine products rich in iodine.
The hospital care diet should be followed during surgery, transitioning from fasting, liquid, and semi-liquid foods to solid foods.
Dietary principles during tumor recovery should include reasonable diet, appropriate exercise, maintaining appropriate weight, appropriate intake of protein-rich foods, more vegetables, fruits and other plant foods, more mineral- and vitamin-rich foods, and limiting the intake of refined sugar. If the dietary intake of tumor patients during treatment and recovery is insufficient to reach the target requirement, enteral and parenteral nutrition support therapy should be given.
