A perianal abscess is what we usually call an “abscess”, “sore”, or “poisonous pimple” next to the anus. The disease has a rapid onset, changes quickly, and is characterized by severe pain, which can be accompanied by an increase in body temperature. The only correct and effective treatment for this disease is still early surgery, the application of antibiotics, sitz baths and other conservative methods are only suitable for symptomatic adjunctive treatment, not because of fear of surgery, miss the time and delay the disease. In our anorectal area, there are many interstitial spaces of varying depths and widespread existence, so when an infection occurs in one interstitial space, it will quickly spread to other interstitial spaces and cause infection in several interstitial spaces, and it will spread from superficial to deep interstitial spaces, and in severe cases, it will spread to the pelvis. Moreover, when the abscess spreads, bacteria enter the bloodstream and produce toxins, which can lead to sepsis and septicemia, followed by the formation of infectious body grams, which can be life-threatening. In addition, the wider and deeper the abscess, the more difficult it is to operate, the more damage the operation may cause to the muscles around the anus, and the greater the chance of anal incontinence. At the same time, the more complex the abscess is, the more technically difficult it is, and the higher the chance of recurrence after surgery. Of course, it cannot be excluded that milder and shallow early abscesses will be temporarily relieved by the use of antibiotics and sitz baths. However, the relief of symptoms does not mean that the hidden problems are eliminated. Because perianal abscesses are mostly caused by congenital dysplasia of the anal glands in the anus, as long as the faulty anal glands are not removed, sooner or later this “time bomb” will break out. And often, when you are busy with everything, it attacks and adds fuel to your fire. Therefore, when you find yourself with an abscess, be sure to operate as soon as possible, the cost may be minimal at this time, the benefit may be lifelong.
