Symptoms of syphilis in the early stages

Syphilis may not be obvious in the early stages, and as the disease progresses, associated symptoms such as skin and mucous membrane damage and enlarged lymph nodes may appear.
1. Skin and mucous membrane damage: after being infected with the syphilis spirochete virus, a hard chancre will appear in the early stage, and it is painless and itchy, but accompanied by obvious ulcers. Small red spots may also appear on the external genitalia of the patient, which are more common on the penis, prepuce and glans in men, and on the labia and perineum in women.
2. Swollen lymph nodes: 1 to 2 weeks after the appearance of the chancre, the lymph nodes in the groin or the affected area may become enlarged, without pain.
It should be noted that syphilis is a contagious disease. People who are suspected of having syphilis should have a good preventive checkup so that it can be diagnosed and treated at an early stage.
