Base of first metacarpal fracture of the right hand should be treated according to the degree of fracture, such as conservative treatment or surgical treatment. Fractures of the base of the first metacarpal bone are mostly caused by longitudinal blows, and they are divided into non-articular base fractures and articular fractures. The latter is often combined with fracture dislocation and is difficult to fixate. It is often characterized by swelling and pain at the base of the first metacarpal bone, and functional limitation, especially obvious thumb abduction obstacle. For the fracture is mild, without obvious displacement and good bone position, conservative treatment can be given. After manipulation and repositioning, plaster or adductor plate fixation is used to immobilize the thumb at the adductor position, while anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as aspirin and celecoxib, are given to relieve the pain and eliminate the swelling. For more severe fracture, more obvious displacement of the fracture, and the fracture spreads to the articular surface, surgical treatment is recommended, either percutaneous Kirschner’s pin fixation, or internal fixation with incision and reduction plate. If the fracture is diagnosed as a basilar fracture of the first metacarpal bone of the right hand, early and standardized treatment is recommended to reduce the adverse effects of the disease. All the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
