What to do if your nose is congested

Causes of congestion in the nose are more, common causes are acute rhinitis, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, etc., should be treated according to the cause.
1. Acute rhinitis: acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa caused by viral infection. Drink plenty of hot water, eat a light diet and pay attention to rest. Commonly used drugs include antiviral drugs such as ribavirin, decongestants such as ephedrine, glucocorticosteroids such as budesonide, etc. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as aspirin can be used if accompanied by fever.
2. Sinusitis: mostly caused by bacterial infection. Eradicate the cause of the disease, such as nasal septum deviation, etc., and use antibiotics such as clindamycin in sufficient quantity and course, if there is clear anaerobic infection, it can be taken at the same time, such as tinidazole. If nasal congestion is obvious, the above decongestants and glucocorticoid drugs can be used for local treatment. Serious cases can be treated by surgery.
3. Allergic rhinitis: the disease is mostly induced by exposure to allergens. The principle of treatment is to avoid allergen exposure, rational use of antihistamines such as loratadine and glucocorticosteroids such as dexamethasone, etc., and specific immunotherapy can be used if necessary. When the symptoms of nasal congestion are severe, the decongestants mentioned above can be used; leukotriene receptor antagonists such as montelukast.
There may be other reasons for nasal congestion, so you should go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause and actively treat it. The above medications should be used appropriately under the guidance of a doctor, and avoid self-medication.
