Are funduscopic exams painful?

Funduscopic examination is not painful, there may be discomfort, but it can be tolerated.
During a fundus examination, the eyes may be irritated by direct light, and may experience discomfort such as photophobia, tearing, and difficulty in opening the eyes, but there will be no pain or foreign body sensation or other painful symptoms. Most patients can fully cooperate and tolerate it.
Funduscopic examination is a commonly used clinical ophthalmologic examination, at present, when the doctor examines the patient’s funduscopic examination, most of the non-contact examination is used, such as: slit-lamp examination of the fundus using the anterior lens, funduscopic photography, pupil-less retinal examiner, etc., which does not cause any harm to the eyes.
Patients are advised to go to regular hospitals for fundus examination.
