Is it okay to take only tamsulosin for an enlarged prostate?

Whether or not it is okay to take only Tamsulosin for enlarged prostate is determined according to the condition, if the symptoms are mild it is okay, if it is severe or complications arise then combined treatment or surgery is required. When the early stage of prostate enlargement is mild, i.e., frequent urination and increased nocturia, it can be treated with alpha 1 receptor blockers such as tamsulosin only. If moderate symptoms occur, treatment with 5α reductase inhibitors such as finasteride and dutasteride needs to be lowered in addition to alpha 1 receptor blockers. In case of advanced severe symptoms i.e. dysuria maximal flow rate <10ml/s plus post voiding catheterization residual urine volume >50ml, it is not possible to treat it with medication only, but surgical treatment is also required. Drugs should be used under the guidance of a physician, prostate hypertrophy should be treated as soon as possible to protect the quality of life.
