Swollen tongue should be considered whether it is caused by lingual inflammation, trauma or angioid edema, and the treatment is based on medication.
1. Tongue inflammation: If the tongue inflammation is caused by anemia or gastrointestinal diseases, the anemia should be corrected and the gastrointestinal diseases should be treated; if the tongue inflammation caused by vitamin B deficiency leads to tongue swelling, the diet should be adjusted and the B vitamins should be supplemented.
2. Trauma: such as tongue bite caused by head impact. If the wound is small, the tongue should be immediately pressed against the palate, pressure should be applied to stop bleeding, and ice should be contained in the injured area, which may reduce the hematoma. For trauma, stitches may be needed to stop the bleeding. With the recovery of the injury, tongue swelling can be gradually reduced.
3. Angioedema: often due to allergy, severe cases may cause respiratory difficulties, so take anti-allergy treatment immediately, such as loratadine.
If the above symptoms occur, the cause of the disease should be clarified, and then treat the cause to alleviate the symptoms, and follow the doctor’s instructions for medication.
