How many years do you usually live with spinal cord infection

The survival period of myelitis depends on the degree of acute damage to the spinal cord and the complications, so the survival time varies. Myelitis is a transverse inflammatory lesion of the spinal cord caused by various infections, mostly acute in onset, with thoracic marrow involvement being the most common. The main manifestations are limb paralysis, sensory disturbances, and urinary and bowel disorders below the plane of damage. Patients with spinal cord inflammation who do not have serious complications will basically recover and take care of themselves within 3-6 months; in case of complete paraplegia, extensive spinal cord damage, and combined with urinary tract infection, lung infection, pressure sores and other complications, their survival will be affected; in case of acute ascending spinal cord inflammation and high cervical segment spinal cord inflammation, patients may also die from respiratory and circulatory failure in the short term, and there is no exact clinical time frame for survival. There is no exact time point for clinical survival. Early diagnosis, early treatment (hormones, immunosuppressants, antibiotics, etc.), careful care, and early rehabilitation are important for the prognosis of patients with myelitis.
