Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant tumor growing in the nasopharynx. The incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer is the highest in Guangdong, so it is also called “Guangdong tumor”, and it is also common in Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian and Taiwan. The causes of nasopharyngeal cancer may include genetic factors, environmental factors and EBV infection. Stimulation by tobacco and alcohol or excessive consumption of salted fish may be cancer-promoting factors.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma may have the following symptoms: 1. blood in the nose and sputum: especially blood in the first inhalation of sputum in the morning. 2.
2.Ear stuffiness, ear blockage and hearing loss, especially when it occurs in one ear.
3. Neck mass: especially a hard, fixed mass under the ear on the side of the neck.
4.Headache: It is often stubborn and usually difficult to stop the pain with medication.
5.Heavy vision (diplopia) or internal strabismus (crossed eyes), etc.
How to diagnose early stage nasopharyngeal cancer: 1. Regular physical examination and examination of nasopharynx (difficult to see because of the concealment of nasopharynx).
2. Blood sampling for EBV antibody can predict the possibility of cancer half a year earlier. 3. Nasal endoscopy: lesions that cannot be seen with the naked eye can be clearly magnified and the report can be printed. 4. Nasopharyngeal biopsy can be taken for pathological examination when there is suspicion.
5.When necessary, cervical lymph node biopsy should be performed.
