Hysteroscopy can check the patency of fallopian tubes. Many clinical tests can check the patency of fallopian tubes. The traditional methods are tubal imaging and tubal lavage examination. Newer methods include laparoscopic tubal lavage examination, hysteroscopic tubal cannulation and lavage examination, and combined hysteroscopic examination. Laparoscopic tubal examination is the gold standard for checking patency with an accuracy rate of 90%-95%. In this case, general anesthesia is required, hospitalization is needed, and the procedure is more expensive. Hysteroscopic examination of tubal patency is done through a hysteroscope by inserting a very thin tube into the opening of the fallopian tube under direct vision, then pushing out the fluid and feeling the resistance as a way to check for patency.
