The temperature requirement of peritoneal dialysis fluid is generally around 37℃-38℃.
Peritoneal dialysis utilizes the body’s own peritoneum as the dialysis membrane, and with the help of solute chemical gradient and osmotic pressure gradient on both sides of the peritoneum, ultrafiltration of excessive water, correction of acid-base imbalance and electrolyte disorders. Peritoneal dialysis has the advantages of simple operation, hemodynamic stability, autonomy, protection of residual renal function, and lower risk of cross-infection.
As the peritoneal dialysis fluid has a low temperature at room temperature. If the temperature is too low it may lead to hypothermic damage, so it must be heated. The peritoneal dialysis fluid is heated to a constant temperature by means of a heater, usually to about 37°C-38°C. If the patient is febrile, the heating temperature can be controlled slightly lower. If the patient’s nutritional status is poor, the temperature can be slightly higher.
Peritoneal dialysis can be treated at home, patients need to go to the peritoneal dialysis clinic of the hospital regularly for review, and adjust the medication under the guidance of professional doctors.
