The concept of individualized tumor therapy

Individualized treatment, in layman’s terms, is treatment based on the tumor patient’s own condition. Specifically, it is to predict the patient’s sensitivity to a specific drug and the magnitude of toxic side effects by testing the status of certain markers of the tumor patient, so as to select the most appropriate drug and dose for each specific patient, in order to maximize the avoidance of toxic side effects and achieve the best therapeutic effect. Why individualized treatment? In clinical practice, medical experts have found that human tumors are very different, and even for tumors in the same area, the treatment effect and method should be different from person to person. Therefore, in the treatment process, only by treating the same disease differently, implementing individualized treatment, can we choose the suitable drugs for different types of patients. In this new thinking, the individualized treatment means of using molecular targeting technology to treat cancer has been widely accepted by the medical community.
