What’s that hard lump behind your ear?

A hard lump behind the ear may be related to lymph node enlargement, sebaceous cyst, subcutaneous fibroma and other diseases.
1. Enlarged lymph nodes: the lymph nodes behind the ear are enlarged and form hard lumps, which are often caused by metastasis of malignant tumors in the head, neck and ear, and are often manifested as hard lumps that cannot be moved on the surface of the bone behind the ear.
2. Sebaceous cysts: retention cysts caused by obstruction of excretion of sebaceous glands behind the ear, in which sebum and epidermal keratinized material gather as oil-like “bean dregs”, when the cysts are not big, they often have hard texture and are not closely related to peripheral symptoms.
3. Subcutaneous fibroma: often caused by unknown trauma behind the ear or itching after the development of small papules. It may be characterized by hard texture and unclear border with infiltration.
When you find a hard lump behind the ear, you can actively consult a doctor for systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis and etiology.
