How to prevent the development of pressure sores

Pressure sores, also known as decubitus ulcers, are wounds and ulcers that result from prolonged pressure on local tissues in the body, leading to tissue necrosis. The incidence of pressure sores is especially high in people who are bedridden or wheelchair bound. Once a pressure sore is developed, it can take weeks to months for the wound to heal in mild cases and can be life-threatening in severe cases, so pressure sore prevention is of particular concern. To prevent pressure ulcers, we would like to give you a few tips: 1. Caregivers can use sliding pads, position changers, etc. to turn severe patients, preferably once every two hours. Those who are bedridden for a long time can use handrails and rope ladders to get up regularly. 2.Dressing and bed making. Avoid wearing clothes that are prone to wrinkles, buttons, zippers and hard seams, and avoid sleeping on a mattress with wrinkles. 3. Skin. Keep the skin clean and dry, especially incontinent patients avoid washing the skin with soap that can easily irritate the skin, and do not wash too much, and choose the appropriate incontinence products such as urine collectors, diaper pads. 4.Sitting posture. The wheelchair should be suitable for their body requirements. 5.Seat cushion and mattress. Choose an appropriate anti-decubitus pad.
