Frozen shoulder is usually better treated with hot compresses. Frozen shoulder is a chronic strain disease that occurs in people around the age of 50, also known as “fifty shoulders”. One of the triggers of frozen shoulder is cold. If cold compresses are applied, the cold stimulation may aggravate the symptoms, resulting in increased pain, swelling, and difficulty in movement. Using hot compresses can enhance blood circulation in the shoulder and promote the absorption of inflammation and bruising, while also improving symptoms such as muscle stiffness. Normally, you can use hot towels, hot water bags and other hot compresses on the shoulder for about half an hour, in addition to the doctor’s guidance, the use of infrared irradiation, moxibustion hot compresses and so on. Hot compresses can only alleviate the symptoms, and cannot treat frozen shoulder. If there is frozen shoulder, you can use some medication under the guidance of the doctor, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen capsules, etc.), glucocorticoid drugs (prednisolone acetate tablets, etc.); but also with the use of traditional Chinese medicine, such as massage, acupuncture, physiotherapy, etc., the patient needs to go to the hospital for symptomatic treatment.
