Early Symptoms of Melanoma of the Toe

Toe melanoma can have different skin lesions in early stage according to its different growth patterns, including extremity freckle-like, malignant freckle nevus-like, nodular, superficial diffuse melanocytoma and so on. 1. Extremity freckle-like melanoma: it is more common and preferred in palmoplantar area. It is often manifested as uneven pigmentation and irregular border patches. If it occurs in the nail matrix, nail plate and nail bed, longitudinal pigmented stripes may appear. Progress more rapidly, often in a short period of time, increase in size, ulceration or metastasis. 2. Malignant freckle nevus-like melanoma: manifested as light brown or brown uneven pigmented patches, which may be accompanied by dark brown or black spots. 3. Nodular melanoma: early lesions often manifest as blue-black or dark brown elevated nodules. Later, it may develop into papilloma and form ulcers. 4. Superficial diffuse melanoma: the skin lesions are small, often not more than 2.5 centimeters, manifested as irregular plaques, often brownish yellow, brown or black.
