It is not accurate to say that endometriosis cures itself. Endometriosis refers to the process in which the endometrium grows outside the uterine cavity and shows cyclic proliferation and shedding in response to fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone in the body. Treatment includes surgical removal of the lesions and medication to suppress sex hormones. However, after menopause, the endometriosis lesions will shrink, thus relieving clinical symptoms such as abdominal pain. 1. Women of childbearing age: Women of childbearing age can normally secrete estrogen and progesterone to form menstruation, and endometriosis foci will also form cyclic changes, which is often manifested as progressive dysmenorrhea, and needs to be treated by drugs to inhibit sex hormones or antagonize estrogen, or surgical treatment of the disease. The method of suppressing sex hormones through gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs is also known as pseudo-menopausal therapy. 2. Postmenopausal women: For natural or artificial menopausal women, due to the decreasing level of estrogen in the body after menopause, the foci of endometriosis will atrophy on their own and do not need additional treatment. If the foci of endometriosis do not atrophy on their own, further examination is often needed to clarify whether there are other estrogen-secreting diseases. If women experience progressive dysmenorrhea, heavy menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period and other abnormalities, they need to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible, and have the doctor formulate an individualized diagnosis and treatment plan according to their specific condition, so as to avoid delaying their condition.
