Dosage of Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Silkworm

Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Rhizoma Pinelliae are usually taken in decoction, the dosage of Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong is 3-10 grams and that of Rhizoma Pinelliae is 5-10 grams.
Ligusticum chuanxiong is the dried rhizome of Ligusticum chuanxiong, family Umbelliferae, with the efficacy of dispelling wind and relieving pain, activating blood circulation and promoting circulation of qi. It is used for the treatment of pain of falling and thumping, paralysis of chest (chest tightness and pain), pain in the heart, abdominal pain in the mass in the abdomen, menstrual disorders, rheumatism and paralysis (pain caused by rheumatism and wind disease), headache and other syndromes.
The adverse effects and contraindications of Chuanxiong are not clear. Chuanxiong is pungent, warm and ascending and dispersing, and is contraindicated in headache with yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang, and is cautioned against in cases of excessive sweating and menstruation. The regular dosage of this product for internal use in decoction is 3~10 grams.
Stiff silkworm is infected with white fungus dead silkworm dry body, with expectoration of wind pain, phlegm dispersal of knots, resting the wind spasm (calm the wind evil, relieve spasm) effect.
Stiff silkworms are used in treating children with acute convulsions, liver wind with phlegm (stagnation of liver qi leading to phlegm-dampness stagnation), epilepsy and convulsions, tetanus, asphyxia, wind-heat headache, mumps (acute suppurative parotitis and mumps), and other conditions.
The adverse reactions and contraindications and precautions of Stiffener are not clear at present. The regular dosage of this product for internal use in decoction is 5 to 10 grams.
The drug should be taken under the guidance of a physician, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
