How often do rabies shots work?

Rabies vaccine should be given within 24 hours, and try not to exceed 48 hours. It takes time for the rabies vaccine to enter the body and for the body to develop antibodies, usually 1 week. Therefore, when there is a risk of rabies exposure, the rabies vaccine should be administered within 24 hours, the sooner the vaccine is administered the better, and no later than 48 hours. The rabies vaccine requires multiple vaccinations, divided into the 4-dose and 5-dose methods, which require 4 and 5 doses respectively, both of which produce effective antibodies. Effective immunity can only be obtained by completing the full course of rabies vaccination. After completing a full course of rabies vaccination, antibody protection lasts for about half a year, after which the protection gradually diminishes and re-vaccination is required if re-exposure occurs.
