Scraping is performed to diagnose endometrial lesions, such as abnormal uterine bleeding, or abnormal echogenicity in the uterine cavity as indicated by ultrasound, or postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, etc. The scraped tissue is usually routinely sent to pathology for a clear diagnosis. In some cases, the tissue scraped out is mostly residual embryonic tissue or placental tissue, and is also routinely scraped out because of drug abortions or residual uterine cavity after curettage. Therefore, the purpose of scraping is different for each woman’s disease. For abnormal bleeding or endometrial lesions caused by some diseases, the scraped tissues should be sent to pathology, and the next step of treatment will be decided according to the pathology results. If the tissue is scraped out by incomplete abortion and the doctor examines it as residual tissue, it can be sent without pathology. After scraping, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic treatment should be routinely given, and intercourse and tub bathing should be prohibited for 1 month after the operation.
