Patients with dampness and cold can take Qiang Wu Sheng Dampness Pill and Ling Gui Jie Gan Pill. Dampness and cold are mostly caused by external cold and dampness, such as wading in rain, cold and damp climate, damp residence, etc., or internal cold and dampness, such as over-eating fat, sweet, raw and cold, resulting in internal cold and dampness (cold and dampness accumulation in the body), and loss of movement of the spleen and yang. External cold-dampness can be manifested as cold (fear of cold), head and body pain, cold extremities (cold extremities, even to the elbows and above the knees), localized constriction (spasm and convulsion of the body due to wind-cold sensation), cold pain, or soreness of joints and muscles of the limbs. For treatment, Qiangwu Shengdie Pill can be used to dispel wind and dampness to relieve pain (remove pain caused by excessive dampness). Cold and dampness may manifest as constipation in the epigastrium (abdomen), abdominal pain and loose stools (thin and unformed stools), greasy mouth and dullness (lack of appetite and reduced food intake), nausea and vomiting (nausea and vomiting), dizziness and heaviness (a feeling of heaviness in the head and limbs), a dull and yellowish complexion, or a high amount of leucorrhoea in women, or swelling of limbs, and scanty urination. For treatment, Ling Gui Zhu Gan Wan can be used to warm Yang, strengthen the spleen and promote dampness. The adverse effects and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear. If there is a need for medication, it should be used under the guidance of a professional physician and should not be used blindly on one’s own.
