Can a young person with 140/90 blood pressure be lowered by exercise?

Young people with blood pressure of 140/90mmHg have the possibility of lowering it by exercise. Normal blood pressure is around 120/80mmHg, and when the systolic blood pressure is ≥140mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure is ≥90mmHg, then this blood pressure is grade 1 hypertension, i.e. mild hypertension. The diagnosis of hypertension is confirmed when the blood pressure is ≥140/90mmHg measured on three consecutive days. However, if this value is measured only once, it may be a transient hypertension caused by emotional excitement or staying up late, exertion, drinking, etc., which is normal and does not require treatment, and the blood pressure will return to normal after the trigger is removed. If you have been diagnosed with mild hypertension, there is no need to worry too much. If there is no other obvious discomfort or functional disorder, blood pressure can be restored to normal through moderate exercise, regular rest and relaxation, weight loss and other methods. However, if the blood pressure remains high after 3 months with the above lifestyle modifications, then antihypertensive medication should be initiated. In addition, patients are advised to have ambulatory blood pressure monitoring to comprehensively assess the 24-hour blood pressure situation in order to adjust the treatment plan in a timely manner.
