The duration of drug administration for tuberculous meningitis needs to be individualized according to the patient’s drug sensitivity at the time of chemotherapy and systemic condition. Usually, the duration of TB meningitis treatment is 1-1.5 years for first-episode patients, 1.5-2 years for relapsing patients, and 2-2.5 years or longer for multidrug-resistant or extensively drug-resistant TB. The duration of TB meningitis treatment is not only related to the patient’s history of chemotherapy and drug sensitivity, but also to his or her co-morbidities, such as diabetes mellitus, AIDS, and immunocompromised, the treatment time is longer than the average patient. In cases of extensive intracranial lesions, the treatment time for multivisceral tuberculosis will be longer if combined with other organ tuberculosis, such as abdominal tuberculosis and genitourinary tuberculosis. The duration of medication for tuberculous meningitis requires a more appropriate individualized regimen based on the patient’s specific situation.
