Yumen is the general term for the opening of the vagina in Chinese medicine.
In Chinese medicine, yumen is the general term for the vaginal opening, including the hymen, which refers to the vaginal opening of a woman who has not yet experienced sexual intercourse. The Biquan Qianjin Yaofang (备急千金要方) mentions that the yumen is “under the yuquan (玉泉), at the point where a woman enters the inner and outer parts of the yin,” i.e., it is located behind the opening of the urethra and is the entrance to the vagina.
The “Essay on the Origin and Criteria of Various Diseases – Thirty-six Criteria for Bringing Down the Belt” says, “The cellular door is the door for those who have already given birth, the dragon door is the door for those who have not yet given birth, and the jade door is the door for those who have not yet married. The Jade Gate is the gateway for discharging menstruation and secretion of the belt, as well as for delivering the fetus and discharging the evil dew. There is a record in the “Women’s Complete Recipes” that “after giving birth to a baby, the yin sheds its yin, and the jade gate does not close”.
For specialized medical questions, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
