What to do if a retinal detachment recurs after surgery

A recurrence of a retinal detachment after surgery still requires another surgical procedure. The choice of surgery needs to be based on the location of the recurrent retinal detachment, as well as the cause and extent of the recurrent retinal detachment. Through the examination, it was found that the patient’s retinal detachment was often below one pd, with single or multiple small detachments, whose edge flip traction was not obvious, and the retinal detachment was relatively limited and not too high elevated, and most of the patients were selected to have scleral compression or cingulotomy. Patients who were found to have multiple lacunae or with retinopathy or cataracts through examination were mostly selected for vitrectomy with postoperative filling with silicone oil or long-lasting gas. Specific surgical methods need to be clarified by the patient’s medical examination.
