What is allergen testing?

Allergen testing is a common test for allergic diseases, the purpose of which is to search for allergens, and commonly used methods include patch test, serum allergen test, prick test, etc.
1. Plaque test: It is mainly used for detecting contact allergens. When using it, the reagent should be put on the test skin, and after staying for a period of time, the skin’s reaction to the contact material should be observed, so as to determine whether the individual has an allergic reaction to the material.
2. Serum Allergen Test: This method takes blood from a vein and uses an immunochemical method to check the total IgE value in the serum. If the value is elevated and the individual is not infected with parasites, it indicates an allergic reaction.
3. Prick test: This method involves placing a drop of prepared skin test solution on the skin, and then using a prick needle to penetrate the skin through the solution. If the individual develops erythema and edema in the pricked area, an allergic reaction is likely to occur.
Allergen testing can help individuals find allergens in order to clarify the cause of the disease, which is beneficial to the treatment and prevention of allergic diseases.
