The correct name for high pressure should be systolic pressure and the correct name for low pressure should be diastolic pressure. Systolic blood pressure of 140mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 90mmHg, can not use drugs first, for therapeutic lifestyle intervention, if the therapeutic lifestyle intervention effect is not satisfactory, should use antihypertensive drugs. Antihypertensive drug treatment targets are patients with hypertension combined with diabetes or patients who have heart, brain, kidney target organ damage or complications; patients with hypertension grade 2 or above; and patients whose blood pressure has not been effectively controlled even after improving their lifestyles with persistently elevated blood pressure. Patients with simple systolic blood pressure of 140mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 90mmHg are classified as Grade 1 hypertension (mild) according to the blood pressure classification and standards adopted in China.Grade 1 hypertension patients can be temporarily treated without antihypertensive medication, but they should change their lifestyles, such as reducing body weight, quitting smoking and restricting alcohol consumption, decreasing sodium and salt intake, decreasing fat intake, increasing physical activity, and decreasing mental stress, etc. Patients with high blood pressure of 140mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 90mmHg are classified as Grade 1 hypertension (mild). Systolic blood pressure 140mmHg, diastolic blood pressure 90mmHg, if the blood pressure control is still unsatisfactory after changing the lifestyle, antihypertensive drugs should be used to control the blood pressure, such as hydrochlorothiazide, propranolol and so on. If the patient’s blood pressure is abnormal, he/she should go to the hospital in time for scientific and standardized treatment, with a view to controlling his/her blood pressure at a normal level and preventing complications.
