  ”Curing the disease before it happens” is the theory of disease prevention and health care proposed in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, which has the same meaning as the “prevention-oriented” health care theory proposed today. In the lecture, Dr. Wu Yueping, medical doctor of the Center for Treatment of Disease in Henan Provincial Hospital, introduced some basic ways to maintain health according to the changes of nature and different seasons, and explained to the participants how to prevent diseases before they happen.
  The five seasons of the year and health care
  Chinese medicine talks about the five elements, so did you know that health care is also divided into more than just the four seasons? Now there are many books on the market about health care, and we all have a certain understanding of health care according to different seasons, but to follow the “five seasons” according to the five elements to health care, is not often mentioned theory. The “five seasons” refers to the year is divided into five periods of spring, summer, long summer, autumn, winter, which corresponds to different periods, favoring different tastes in diet, can help us to maintain health.
  Spring is wood, should be liver and nourishing; spring should eat more sour to nourish the liver and liver. Vinegar is sour and enters the liver, which has the function of softening the liver and dispersing blood stasis, relieving the surface and inhibiting bacteria. Spring is the time when everything grows, you should eat more seeds to nourish the vitality, grains and beans are available. You can eat vinegar soaked beans and animal liver to nourish the liver.
  Summer is fire, should heart and nourish long; summer should eat more bitter to nourish the heart and clear heat. It is advisable to eat more bitter melon, lentils, Buddha’s hand, papaya, patchouli and other products that clear heat and relieve summer heat and aromatic dampness. In addition, summer is the season when everything grows vigorously, so you should eat more leaves, stems and flowers of plants.
  Long summer is the earth, the spleen should be changed; long summer season is heavy with dampness, we should eat foods that can strengthen the spleen and remove dampness, aromatize dampness and sweet and light dampness to protect the spleen and stomach, such as pelargonium, patchouli, thornbush, papaya, winter melon, white lentils, yam, poria, etc.
  Autumn is gold, should be the lungs and nourish the harvest; autumn is dry, eat more acid (sweet) to nourish Yin and moisten the lungs. Autumn is dominated by the lungs, should eat more acid, less pungent. This is because the pungent taste disperses lung qi, sour taste astringent lung qi, autumn lung qi should be collected not dispersed, so after “autumn” to eat less onions, ginger and other pungent food, eat more sour fruits and vegetables, but also prohibit cold, diet should drink more porridge.
  Winter is water, the kidneys should be nourished and hidden; winter cold is heavy, eat more salt to strengthen the kidneys. Not that more salt, but you can properly eat more thick tasty products to help enhance the function of astringent essence. You can also use some pungent and warm products to soak the feet to help disperse the cold, while promoting blood circulation, such as mugwort.
  The 12 hours of the day and health
  There are 12 hours in a day, in each hour, the main body meridians are different, meridian circulation, tightly interlocked, in order to have a healthy body, should be in accordance with the laws of time and the function of the corresponding internal organs meridians, do what should be done, in order to take good care of the body.
  Ziji (11 am to 1 am): bile meridian, at this time a Yang is born, is supposed to enter a deep sleep, many people have this experience, before the sleepy, but as long as you stay up past 11 o’clock is not sleepy, this is because the Yang in this time began to sprout, so this time to sleep is to raise the next round of Yang. Ugly hour (1:00 am ~ 3:00 am): liver meridian, blood collection. The qi and blood at this time go to the liver meridian, and young people who like to spend the night drinking at this time are the ones who hurt the liver the most. Women who can’t rest at this time, over time, will experience low menstrual flow, dull, dry skin, and even pale faces. Yin time (3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.): lung meridian, infusion of Qi and blood. As the saying goes, it is hard to buy dawn sleep with money. If you sleep well at this time, qi and blood can reach the limbs and you will not feel sleepy when you wake up. Many people feel that they still have no spirit after a night’s sleep, mainly because the quality of sleep at the c-time is not good. Mao time (5~7 am): Large intestine meridian, conducts dregs. Do not feel bad about getting up in the morning to go to the toilet, this is the most normal time to excrete. Cinnabar (7~9 am): Stomach meridian, the main intake. This is the time to eat breakfast, many people are pressed for time to give up breakfast, which has an impact on the state of the day. Si (9~11 a.m.): Spleen meridian, the main transport and transformation. This time the spleen and stomach began to digest breakfast, supplying the body with energy, do not eat breakfast also affects the operation of the spleen meridian at this time, affecting the production of Qi and blood.
  Midday (11:00 a.m. ~ 1:00 p.m.): Heart meridian, at this time a yin is born. It does not matter if you eat a little more at this time, because around 12 o’clock Yang Qi is the most prosperous, eat is all easy to be digested. Contrary to 11:00 pm, this is the time when the Yang Qi is at its peak and turns into the Yin Qi. A nap of half an hour to one hour is good for maintaining the Yin essence of the next cycle.
  Not yet time (1~3 pm): Small intestine meridian, absorbing essence substances. When you wake up from a nap, the small intestine begins to absorb nutrients and secrete the clear and turbid, which is transformed into urine by the bladder meridian and into feces by the large intestine meridian. Shen (3~5 pm): bladder meridian, gas and water. If a person with a weak bladder meridian cannot smoothly discharge water from the body at this time, he or she will feel swollen in the lower limbs.
  Youqi (5~7 pm): Kidney meridian, collecting essence. One should reduce going out to nourish the kidney qi. Hundredth hour (7~9 p.m.): Heart Pericardium meridian, meditate to nourish the heart and prepare for sleep. Many people with a bad heart cannot be calm at this time, and they are prone to problems.
  Hai hour (9~11 pm): Sanjiao meridian, one should go to sleep and have a complete rest for the body and mind so that yang can enter yin and yin and yang can merge to produce the essence needed for the next cycle.
  Different times of the year, prevention and treatment of common diseases
  Spring: rash and itching
  Rice vinegar 300ml, add 10 sections of onion root, boil it and apply it to the skin externally in cool temperature. “Xu Changqing’s prednisone is not as good as rice vinegar with green onion”.
  Summer: heat stroke
  For mild heatstroke, move the patient to a cool place in time and use a wet towel on his head to help cool down, or take cool drinks, such as rehmannia water, sour plum field, etc. You can also take some ten drops of water, six one san, Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Shui (pill), ward off the plague, gold silver flower dew, etc. Serious heatstroke should seek medical attention in a timely manner.
  Long summer: diarrhea
  Commonly used formula: Chen Pi 10g, Fried Atractylodes 12g, Fried Atractylodes 6g, Poria 15g, Ze Di 30g, Perilla 10g, Shen Qu 10g, Fang Feng 6g, Roasted Licorice 6g
  Dysentery plus Amaranthus 15g Red peony 15g
  Autumn: Cough
  1, warm dry (cough with little phlegm, dry throat and nose, thirst and headache, fever without sweat) with a duck pear 1, remove the core and put in Chuanbei 3, ice sugar 9 grams. Steam with water, twice a day, eat half or 1 each time, even 2~3 days can be served.
  2, cool dry (cough phlegm thin, dry throat and lips, nasal congestion, headache, chills, no sweat, more slightly fever) with a duck pear 1, remove the core and insert net ephedra 6 ~ 11, boiled in water, 1 daily, even take 2 ~ 3 days can be.
