Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a pathology characterized by hyperandrogenemia, ovulation disorders and polycystic ovaries, with a high prevalence of 5-10% in adolescent and fertile women, 75% in women with anovulatory infertility and up to 85% in women with hirsutism.
Currently, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association recommends the criteria recommended by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ESHRE/ASRM) Rotterdam Expert Meeting in 2003: 1. Sometimes, regular menstruation is not associated with ovulatory menstruation. 2. Clinical manifestations of hyperandrogenism and hyperandrogenemia Clinical manifestations include acne and hirsutism. Total serum testosterone and free testosterone are higher than normal. 3. polycystic ovarian changes Ultrasound examination reveals ≥12 follicles of 2-9 mm in diameter on one or both ovaries and/or ovarian volume ≥10 cm3. If any 2 of the above 3 items are met, polycystic ovary syndrome is diagnosed. (Polycystic ovaries and polycystic ovary syndrome are not one and the same concept.)
