What is the etiology of late-onset spasms?

Congenital developmental abnormalities and injuries, such as FCD, TSC, HIE, and cerebral atrophy (Huaxi reported 11 cases with late onset and 6 cases with the above-mentioned etiology), are associated with immature brain development. (Two cases of adult epileptic spasticity were reported from abroad, at the age of 18 and 25 years old, respectively. (The first case: MRI for bilateral insula cortical hypoplasia and corpus callosum hypoplasia, and the second case: MRI for right hemisphere gray matter heterotopia and multiple microcephalic gyrus malformation plus corpus callosum agenesis). Late onset spastic frontotemporal lesions are more frequent than posterior head lesions.
