What does BIRADS mean?

BI-RADS is the acronym for Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System of the American College of Radiology. It is widely used in breast imaging examinations to determine the degree of benign or malignant breast diseases based on the report, such as color ultrasound, MRI, and molybdenum target. BI-RADS is categorized into 0~6 grades, generally speaking, the higher the grade, the bigger the problem and the higher the possibility of malignancy. During the examination, the grading of breast nodules is made according to the size of the tumor, whether the border is clear, whether the edge of the tumor is smooth, the degree of infiltration with the surrounding, the richness of the tumor blood flow signal, the uniformity of the density of the tumor, and the ultrasound echo attenuation, etc., to make a comprehensive judgment of the nature of the tumor. BIRADS is a commonly used method for clinical diagnosis. According to the performance of the grade and the patient’s own medical history, it guides the doctor to carry out the next step of examination and formulate an accurate treatment plan.
