How to perform a gastroscopy without intubation

The non-intubated gastroscopy is called capsule gastroscopy, and it is simple to perform, requiring the patient to swallow the capsule on an empty stomach and wait for the results. However, capsule gastroscopy is not recommended for simple gastric examination for several reasons: First, capsule gastroscopy is not controlled and the stomach cavity is relatively large, so it is easy for some parts to be missed. The second point is that if the patient’s stomach empties quickly, it is likely that many areas will not be observed in time, leading to failure of observation. The third point is that capsule gastroscopy is expensive, many times more expensive than regular gastroscopy and more expensive than painless gastroscopy, which can be tolerated by most of the stomach. Therefore, it is still recommended to have a normal gastroscopy or painless gastroscopy.
