Whether food poisoning can heal itself depends on a combination of factors such as the patient’s physical condition and the type and amount of food poisoned. In the case of milder symptomatic food poisoning, recovery can be slow with dietary modification and fluid replacement. Most of the less symptomatic gastrointestinal food poisoning can heal on its own, but this should not be ignored as food poisoning can still be fatal even in the gastrointestinal form.
