What’s wrong with squatting with a creaky knee but no pain?

Do squatting knee creaking but no pain is a joint popping, mostly due to physiological reasons, such as tendon and bone friction, patella position change, meniscus position change, and so on. Pathologic causes are often accompanied by joint pain and other symptoms.
1. Tendon and bone friction: when squatting, tendon and bone friction can produce joint popping sound. When the joint is suddenly pulled or flexed, the instantaneous pulling force is more than the negative pressure in the cavity, the static equilibrium is suddenly broken and there is a temporary obvious cavity, and due to the sudden separation of corresponding articular surfaces as well as the surrounding gases spreading to the obvious cavity rapidly, the sound is made.
2. Patellar position change: patellar position change when squatting will also produce a sound, which will not cause pain.
3. Meniscus position change: meniscus is squeezed to cause the position to move, there will also be popping sound. When accompanied by meniscus injury, there are joint pain, limited movement and other symptoms.
Doing squats with creaky knees can make the joint capsule be effectively pulled, synovial folds can be stretched, which can help antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and dislodge the embedded, etc., and moderate joint popping can make the joint flexibility increase, which is beneficial. If accompanied by pain, should promptly go to the hospital, identify the cause, standardized treatment.
