HemifacialSpasm (HFS), also known as facial muscle twitching, most often appears after middle age and is common in women. It is characterized by involuntary jumping of facial muscles on one side. The throbbing is paroxysmal and varies in severity, and can be aggravated by fatigue, tension and voluntary movement. The onset of the disease mostly starts from the muscles around the eyes and then expands to the muscles at the corners of the mouth. In the case of repetitive throbbing of the facial muscles bilaterally, it is often not a facial muscle spasm and other causes need to be sought. Facial muscle spasm and facial paralysis are two kinds of diseases, and the clinical manifestations and causes of the two diseases are different. Facial muscle spasm can be simply understood as unilateral facial muscle excitability overactivity, facial paralysis is unilateral facial muscle excitability is too low or unable to excitation, manifested as facial expression muscle group motor dysfunction, unable to complete the eyebrow lifting, eye closure, puffing mouth blowing and other actions, can occur at all ages.
