Efficacy and Side Effects of Pitavastatin Calcium Dispersible Tablets

Pitavastatin Calcium Dispersible Tablets can inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver, so that the total plasma cholesterol decreases, and play a hypolipidemic effect, which can be used for hypercholesterolemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. Its side effects include abdominal pain, jaundice, rash, thrombocytopenia, numbness, tiredness, itchy skin, and rhabdomyolysis. Liver function should be checked at least once before 12 weeks of medication, and periodically thereafter, at intervals that should depend on the patient. Contraindicated in the following cases: hypersensitivity to the drug or a history of hypersensitivity; pregnant women and women who may become pregnant; breastfeeding women; biliary occlusion or severe liver disease; taking cyclosporine. Use with caution in the following conditions: alcoholism; patients with liver disease or a past history of it; elderly patients; taking fibrates; hypothyroidism; history of pharmacologic muscle disorders; hereditary muscle diseases such as myotonic dystrophy or a family history of it.
