A normal pelvic X-ray does not exclude ankylosing spondylitis.
Ankylosing spondylitis is one of the seronegative spondyloarthropathies, which mainly causes lesions in the large joints of the spine and extremities.
The diagnostic criteria for ankylosing spondylitis include both clinical and imaging criteria. For the imaging diagnostic criteria, X-ray and sacroiliac joint MRI findings were included. Imaging suggestive of sacroiliac arthritis with at least one clinical feature is sufficient for the diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis; therefore, a normal pelvic X-ray does not exclude ankylosing spondylitis.
Patients with ankylosing spondylitis are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation and treatment according to medical advice.
