Dangers of ICL IOL implantation

ICL IOL implantation has the possibility of intraocular infection, which may also cause cataract and inflammation of the uvea. 1. Intraocular infection: ICL lens implantation is a kind of refractive surgery inside the eye by making an incision on the cornea. If it is not operated properly, the continuous contact friction between anterior chamber and iris leads to intraocular infection. 2. Cataract: Implanting an IOL into the patient’s anterior chamber may result in damage to the atrial angle, causing iridocyclitis or elevated intraocular pressure. The crystal in the posterior chamber may also injure the normal lens, leading to cataract. 3. Glaucoma: some patients have elevated intraocular pressure after surgery, so the structural changes of the anterior chamber of the eye need to be closely observed after surgery, and the intraocular pressure should be monitored at the same time. IOL implantation is theoretically harmless. If serious complications arise, the lens needs to be removed or replaced. After undergoing ICL IOL implantation, take medication as prescribed, follow up regularly and seek medical attention if discomfort occurs.
