What are the causes of diarrhea

Diarrhea is diarrhea, which can be divided into acute and chronic diarrhea. Common causes include intestinal diseases and infections, poisoning, drug side effects, endocrine and metabolic disorders.
1. The common causes of acute diarrhea are:
(1) Intestinal diseases: enteritis caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and other infections. In addition, there are Crohn’s disease or acute attack of ulcerative colitis, acute ischemic enteropathy and so on.
(2) Acute poisoning: diarrhea caused by consumption of toxic food or chemicals such as arsenic and phosphorus.

2. The common causes of chronic diarrhea are:

(2) Endocrine and metabolic disorders: hyperthyroidism, hypoadrenocorticism, carcinoid syndrome.
(3) Other systemic diseases: systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, uremia and so on.
(4) Drug side effects: lipiodol, thyroxine, certain antitumor drugs and antibiotics.
